Returns and cancellations

What to expect when you buy a part from us, and your rights afterwards.

Ordered the wrong part, or changed your mind? You have 14 days to cancel and get your money back, and you don't have to give a reason. If your part is faulty, read Warranty and faulty parts instead: your rights there are stronger.

Your right to cancel

When you order from us through this website, or by email or phone, the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 give you a right to cancel. It applies whether we deliver your part or you collect it.

  • You can cancel from the moment you order until 14 days after the day you receive your part.
  • If you order several parts together and they arrive on different days, the 14 days run from the day the last one arrives.
  • You don't need to give a reason.

If you buy a part in person at our workshop, this right doesn't apply, because you've seen what you're buying. If you've had second thoughts, talk to us and we'll see what we can do. Your rights if a part is faulty are the same however you bought it.

How to cancel

Tell us before the 14 days are up. Any clear message will do:

Give us your name and your reference (it looks like PRS-PART-7H3K9). We'll reply to confirm we've received your cancellation. You can use the form below if you like, but you don't have to.

Sending the part back

  • Return the part within 14 days of telling us you're cancelling. Bring it to the workshop, or send it to PC Repair Services, 140 Parkhead Drive, Edinburgh, EH11 4RX.
  • You pay for returning it. We recommend a tracked service, and keep your proof of postage.
  • Please include everything that came in the box, in the original packaging if you still have it.

Your refund

  • We refund what you paid for the part, plus our standard delivery charge if you paid one.
  • We pay within 14 days of the part reaching us, or of you sending us proof that you've posted it, whichever comes first. If you cancel before you've received the part, we pay within 14 days of you telling us.
  • The refund goes back the way you paid, to the same bank account, and we don't charge anything for making it.

Opened or used parts

You can open the box and look the part over, as you could in a shop, and still get a full refund.

If a part has been handled more than that, for example fitted in a PC, with thermal paste applied, or with marks or bent pins, you can still cancel. But we may reduce your refund by the value the part has lost, and we'll explain any deduction before we refund you.

What can't be cancelled

The law makes a few exceptions to the 14-day right:

  • Sealed software, once you've broken the seal.
  • Software licences and product keys sent by email, once we've sent the key. We'll ask you to agree to this before we send it.
  • Consumables that have been used and can't be separated again, such as thermal paste once it's applied.

None of these exceptions applies to a faulty item. If something doesn't work, see Warranty and faulty parts.

Buying for a business?

The 14-day right to cancel is a consumer right: it applies when you buy for yourself rather than for a business. If you're buying for a business, talk to us before you order.
