IT Recycling & E-Waste Disposal

WEEE-compliant IT equipment recycling for Edinburgh businesses. Secure data destruction, certified collection, and responsible disposal.

What We Do

Businesses in Edinburgh generate significant volumes of electronic waste as they upgrade and replace IT equipment. Disposing of old computers, laptops, servers, and peripherals responsibly is not just good practice — it is a legal requirement under the UK Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013.

We provide a complete IT recycling and e-waste disposal service for businesses of all sizes. From a handful of end-of-life desktops to a full office clearout, we handle the collection, secure data destruction, and environmentally responsible processing of your old IT equipment. All items are routed through Approved Authorised Treatment Facilities (AATFs) in full compliance with UK legislation.

Where equipment still has useful life, we refurbish and repurpose it rather than scrapping it — reducing waste, extending hardware lifespans, and supporting a circular economy.

WEEE Compliance & Data Security

Under UK law, businesses have a duty of care to ensure their old IT equipment is disposed of through licensed waste carriers and processed at Approved Authorised Treatment Facilities. Non-compliance can result in enforcement action from the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).

We take this seriously. Our IT recycling service is fully compliant with the WEEE Regulations 2013, and we maintain detailed records of all equipment collected and processed — retained for a minimum of four years as required by law.

Data security is handled separately under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We offer two levels of data destruction:

  • Software wipe — Industry-standard multi-pass overwrite that meets NCSC guidelines, suitable for most business environments.
  • Physical destruction — Drives are physically shredded or degaussed, suitable for highly sensitive data. Certificate of destruction provided.

Our Recycling Process

  1. Initial Consultation — Contact us with details of the equipment you need to dispose of. We will discuss your requirements, data security needs, and arrange a suitable collection date.
  2. On-Site Collection — Our team collects the equipment from your business premises across Edinburgh and the Lothians. We handle all the lifting and logistics.
  3. Secure Data Destruction — All storage media is securely wiped or physically destroyed, depending on your chosen level of data destruction. Certificates of destruction are available on request.
  4. Assessment & Sorting — Equipment is assessed for refurbishment potential. Items with remaining useful life are refurbished; the rest is disassembled and sorted by material type.
  5. Compliant Processing — All waste is processed through Approved Authorised Treatment Facilities (AATFs) in full compliance with the WEEE Regulations 2013. You receive documentation confirming compliant disposal.

Refurbishment & Circular Economy

Not all old IT equipment belongs in the recycling bin. Many machines that businesses consider obsolete still have years of useful life remaining with minor upgrades or a fresh operating system installation.

Where possible, we refurbish and repurpose equipment rather than scrapping it. This approach reduces electronic waste, conserves the energy and raw materials embedded in existing hardware, and supports a circular economy. Refurbished units may be resold through our shop, donated to community organisations, or returned to you for redeployment in less demanding roles.

For equipment with residual commercial value, we can discuss buyback arrangements — putting money back in your pocket while keeping functional hardware in productive use.
