Cookie Policy
What cookies we use and how to manage your preferences
This Cookie Policy explains how PC Repair Services uses cookies and similar technologies on our website (pc-repair.services). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
We comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), the UK GDPR, and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. What Are Cookies?
1.1 Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, phone) by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide reporting information to website owners.
1.2 Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called "first-party cookies". Cookies set by domains other than the website you are visiting are called "third-party cookies".
1.3 Some technologies are not strictly cookies but serve similar purposes — for example, local storage, session storage, and web beacons. References to "cookies" in this policy include all such similar technologies.
2. How We Use Cookies
2.1 We use cookies for the following purposes:
- Strictly necessary — to make the website function (theme, navigation, security)
- Analytics — to understand how visitors use our site (anonymised, with consent only)
2.2 We do not currently use marketing, advertising, or remarketing cookies. We do not run paid ad campaigns that require tracking pixels.
2.3 We do not sell your data to advertisers or data brokers.
3. Cookies We Use
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies (no consent required)
These are essential for the site to function and cannot be disabled.
| Cookie type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Theme preference | Remembers dark/light mode | Until cleared |
| Consent record | Saves your cookie choices | 12 months |
| Security (Cloudflare) | Protects against bots | 30 minutes |
3.2 Analytics cookies (consent required)
Set by Google Analytics. Only loaded if you accept analytics cookies in our consent banner.
| Cookie type | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| User identifier | Google Analytics | Counts unique visitors | Up to 2 years |
| Session state | Google Analytics | Tracks session activity | Up to 2 years |
| Daily visitor identifier | Google Analytics | Counts daily visitors | 24 hours |
We anonymise IP addresses before they are processed by Google Analytics. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months and then automatically deleted.
3.3 Marketing cookies
We do not currently use any marketing or advertising cookies. If we add them in the future, we will update this policy and re-prompt for your consent.
4. How to Manage Cookies
4.1 Through our consent banner — click the button at the top of this page to change your preferences at any time. Your choice is saved and respected on every page.
4.2 Through your browser — most browsers let you block, delete, or control cookies via Settings:
4.3 Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the site (e.g., dark mode preference, the cookie banner reappearing on every visit).
4.4 You can also opt out of Google Analytics globally by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
5. Do Not Track (DNT)
5.1 Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is no consensus standard for how websites should respond, so we currently do not respond automatically to DNT signals. However, we honour all explicit choices you make through our cookie consent banner.
6. Changes to This Cookie Policy
6.1 We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change.
6.2 If we add a new category of cookies (e.g., marketing) or significantly change how existing cookies are used, we will re-prompt you for consent.
